A year of progress, purpose, and people leading the way.

Chair, Board of Directors

Chief Executive Officer
A message from our Chair and CEO
As we reflect on the past year, we’re proud to share a story of meaningful growth, courageous change, and deepened connection with the people we serve.
At a time of significant transition across the disability support sector, Prescott Group has remained grounded in what matters most: the voices, goals, and rights of people with disabilities and their families. Every decision we made this year—every new partnership, every program evolution, every bold idea—was shaped by listening to our community and responding with care, innovation, and integrity.
Under the leadership of our Board of Directors, we’ve ensured strong governance and oversight during a period of both challenge and opportunity. With a clear focus on accountability, we’ve laid the groundwork to scale responsibly—whether through individualized funding, inclusive employment, or the development of Progress Place, our new community hub in downtown Halifax.
Across all of our work, we’ve taken action to address long-standing gaps with forward-thinking solutions: a Saturday Job Program that opens doors to employment for youth, Caregivers Connect sessions that build strength through shared experience, and ongoing self-advocacy initiatives that remind us who should be leading the conversation.
The road ahead will demand continued courage, creativity, and collaboration. But we remain, as ever, committed to building a future where every person belongs—and where inclusion isn’t a goal, but a given.
With gratitude and resolve,

Derek Flynn

Progress Place: A bold new chapter for downtown Halifax
Big thank you to Canadian Progress Club, Halifax for leading the way to a future where we all belong.

Progress Place, Prescott Group’s new centre in the heart of the city, will be a place where inclusion lives not on the sidelines, but right at the centre of our shared civic life. It’s a space that says: this city belongs to everyone.
And thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Canadian Progress Club, Halifax, that vision is moving closer to reality. This year, the Progress Club pledged $1 million to support the creation of Progress Place as part of our Building Belonging campaign—a transformational gift that will have lasting impact for generations.
Progress Place won’t just be a building. It will be a home for self-advocacy and connection, for skills-building and creativity, for joy and community. A place where someone might start their first job, explore the city with friends, join a choir, or lead a workshop on accessibility—all in one week.
And because Progress Place is rooted in downtown Halifax, surrounded by shops, transit, civic services, and neighbourhood energy, it sends a powerful message: people with disabilities are part of the fabric of this city. We are here. We are contributing. We belong.
We’ve always known that space matters. It changes how people feel, how they’re treated, and how they see themselves. This space—designed with and for people with disabilities—will offer comfort, connection, opportunity, and visibility.
Progress Place is more than a project. It’s a movement. And with the support of the Canadian Progress Club, Halifax, and our entire community, we are building a future where inclusion isn’t an afterthought—it’s the foundation.
This is community. This is possibility. This is Progress Place.
This is your moment to make a lasting difference
Will you be a Builder of Belonging?

Highlights from our year

Standing ovation for Club Inclusion’s Theatre Club
Our talented actors brought the house down with Big Top Betrayal, a show-stopping, sold-out performance at Alderney Landing Theatre. The Club Inclusion Theatre Club wowed the audience with their creativity, energy, and unforgettable stage presence.
Groundbreaking at Progress Place – A bold new beginning
In February, we were proud to officially break ground at 5515 Clyde Street alongside Minister Scott Armstrong. This milestone marked the start of construction on our new community hub and the public launch of our Building Belonging campaign—an ambitious vision to create a more inclusive Halifax for all.

Empowering employment through enterprise
This year, Prescott’s small businesses provided fair-wage jobs to 106 people with disabilities, while 48 budding entrepreneurs received support to launch and grow their own ventures—creating and selling goods and services with pride and purpose.
Partnering for belonging
We were thrilled to announce our exciting new partnership with the Canadian Progress Club, Halifax, at this year’s Sports Celebrity Dinner. Their incredible $1 million investment in Progress Place marks a major milestone in our journey to build an inclusive, community-driven space in the heart of Halifax.

Annual highlights
It’s been another fulfilling year for Prescott Group. Our first full year with Club Inclusion has expanded our scope and increased opportunities for participants and staff to work collaboratively across programs. Staff have been able to increase their skills and benefit from being part of a bigger organization.
Our social enterprises aren’t just businesses – they are engines of inclusion. Each dollar earned is reinvested into employing people with disabilities at a fair wage, building real-world skills, supporting independence and creating a sense of purpose and belonging for people with disabilities. The profits are a testament to the hard work, quality services and a vibrant community behind each initiative. Proceeds are reinvested in wages, programs and opportunities for the people we serve. In 2024-25, we saw a steady increase in the success of our social enterprises with a 6% increase in revenues. We also received a one-time payment from the Department of Opportunities and Social Development to reimburse Prescott reserves for previous years’ wage shortfall.
The year ahead
In 2025-26, Prescott Group is embarking on our next chapter, moving from Prescott Street to a new facility in the city centre. It’s an exciting time but also tremendous change and our budget reflects the increases and transitions to come. With goals of significant fundraising, our capital campaign Building Belonging was developed to support our move and capital needs in the new location.
As always, the Audit and Risk Committee and the entire Board monitor Prescott Group’s finances closely. Dedicated individuals work to balance the fiscal resources and provide quality programs for people with disabilities. I wish to thank the members of the Board, Facilities Committee and staff for their continued dedication and support.
Respectfully submitted,

Cindy Mills
